Leaders should know the importance of knowledge sharing, continuous learning and development. Leadership: I found the importance of leadership in encouraging self-directed learning, to be an interesting and useful concept in this research.Easy access to information: I would also add that having easy access to information is very important in initiating and maintaining self-directed learing.For instance, having high job demands allow employees to challenge themselves and push them to learn in order to keep up with the changes happening in their job (Raemdonck, Gijbels, & Groen, 2014). Job design: Having the appropriate job design and job characteristics are important to promote self-directed learning.No distraction: Having time and the tools for learning and having an environment without distractions contribute as well to self-directed learning (Raemdonck, Gijbels, & Groen, 2014). ![]() Learning culture: The article ((Raemdonck, Gijbels, & Groen, 2014) claims that it is important to have leaders who develop a learning culture and adopt the right practices to encourage and facilitate learning (Raemdonck, Gijbels, & Groen, 2014). ![]() The article also adds that self -directed learning is most probable to happen when employees feel the responsibility of developing their knowledge (Raemdonck, Gijbels, & Groen, 2014).
